A little about our service area…

Isleworth’s history dates back to the Roman and Anglo Saxon times, when it was known as “Gislheresuuyrth”. Located at the banks of the River Thames, it was a trading settlement and well-cultivated farming town. During the 18^th century, most of the lands in Isleworth were turned into orchards and in the 19^th century, they became market gardens. Produce from these gardens and orchards supplied the Capital’s markets. However, its gardens and orchards were turned into commercial areas and residences in the 1920’s. Today, its home to high-rise buildings and notable landmarks. A perfect mix of both old and new.

The Gumley House, Isleworth War Memorial and London Apprentice Inn are some of Isleworth’s most interesting landmarks. John Gumley built the house in 1700 and it is now a school. A memorial was constructed in memory of the 385 Isleworth men who fought during the First World War. The 18^th century inn often housed the City Livery Companies’ apprentices before they rowed back to work. All Saints Church, Isleworth’s parish church, survived the passage of time. Its 14^th century tower still stands today.

Isleworth can be accessed through the A 315 or the London Road. Transport of London Buses H20, 110, N9 and 481 also service passengers to and from Isleworth. South West Trains is the town only railway service.
