A little about our service area…
Standing on the western edge of the New Forest, the civil parish of Ringwood was the main market town during the Middle Ages. In 1226, King Henry III granted a weekly market, every Wednesday, which is still open today. Ringwood was also famous for the woollen gloves it produced in the 19th century. The town was also home to the Royal Air Force Station Ibsley during the Second World War. It is also home to Ringwood Brewery which is famous for its cask ales and wines. Ringwood was also listed as one of the “most expensive market towns in the UK” with property prices reaching £400,000 in 2008.
Due to its proximity to New Forest, Ringwood is the best place to tour the Forest and the town. Walking down West Street and through its medieval three-arched stone bridge, will give visitors a view of the River Avon. Historic buildings such as the churches of St. Paul, St. Peter and the Monmouth house are also interesting places to visit. Visitors who fancy walking and nature sightseeing will love the 55-kilometre route which will take them to the sea. Whatever attraction they choose, visitors are in for a treat.
Ringwood can be accessed via the A338 and A31 roads. National Express, Go South Coast and Red Express are just some of the buses servicing the town.
