A little about our service area…
Formerly known as “Oistreham”, the town of Westerham is located in the Sevenoaks District of Kent. The town was also a former Celtic settlement and a Roman encampment. In 1227, the town was granted a market charter by King Henry III, which made Westerham into an important player in the cattle trade. Its market status helped the town’s economic growth. Today, Westerham is home to Westerham Brewery (formerly known as Black Eagle Brewery) and Crayford Engineering, a British car conversion company.
Westerham also offers many points of interest worth visiting. Some of these include the Statue of Sir Winston Churchill, Pitts Cottage, Moretons Court and Hosey Caves. Sculptured by Oscar Nemon, the Sir Winston Churchill’s statue was donated by the Yugoslavian people. Pitts Cottage was the home of William Pitt in the 16th century. Morertons Court, a neo-Tudor styled building, was built in 1874 while Hosey Caves were stone quarries which were used to build most of Westerham. It is now a protected area and home to bats.
Westerham can be accessed via the A25, M25 motorway and A233 road. Oxted Railway station is the nearest train station to the town. Transport of London’s Bus 246 services Westerham’s route.
